Pimps, Ho's and Dead Men

KUWAIT CITY: Police recently raided a vice den in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, arrested five pimps and set free 13 Asian women who had been allegedly held against their will and forced into prostitution, reports Al-Anba daily. The raid followed a complaint filed by an Indonesian woman who said she had been kidnapped by an unidentified taxi driver and sold to pimps. She added, she managed to escape and informed police about the activities of the pimps who were also holding other women captive. In other news, police acting on information raided a brothel in Ahmadi and arrested 10 prostitutes and four pimps and referred them to the authorities.

‘Dead’ man worried about ‘iqama’: A Bangladeshi man, identified only as Dalour, has appealed to the First Deputy Premier, Minister of Interior and Minister of Defence Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to help him renew his residence permit, reports Al-Rai daily. According to Dalour, who works as a porter at the Ministry of Interior, says during a random check of the status of residence permit he discovered the computer shows him as dead man. He added he tried in vain to rectify the mistake and is now afraid he may not be able to renew his residence permit which expires in March 16, 2007.
