Fitzgerald takes a long pause and replies, "Finally."

Hold on to your hats, kids. Are the Northwestern Wildcats becoming a national football recruiting power?

While it's still early to talk about team recruiting rankings for the Class of 2014, the Wildcats are making a nice splash. They have added 10 oral commitments, including three in-state kids. Glenbard North running back Justin Jackson and Jacksonville offensive tackle Blake Hance committed this week.

The 'Cats check in with a Top 15 recruiting class, according to rivals.com.

Why the sudden jump?

I'll let a few of the recently committed players tell you why.

"I didn't need to go across the country to find a school that offers everything I was looking for in a school," Jackson said. "I can get a great education and play at a high level of Rangers 27 Vladimir Guerrero red 2010 All Star Jerseys football and compete for a championship."

"Northwestern was the offer I was waiting on," Hance said. "They are on the rise, and I just wanted to be a part of the excitement of Northwestern football."

From my view, there are many reasons Tigers 26 Boesch red 2010 All Star Jerseys for the rise of the 'Cats the school's academic strength, the stability of the coaching staff, the Braves 16 McCann 2010 MLB All Star 2010 All Star navy Jerseys in-the-works lakefront athletic facility. And oh Red Sox 31 Jon Lester Home Cool Base White 2010 All Star Jerseys yeah, winning helps.

As a father of two who will shortly have college-aged kids, I've looked at the Evanston campus and wondered aloud how any kid would say no to a Northwestern offer.

Then it hit me. Northwestern has always been a big favorite with parents. Maybe that was one of the bigger issues?

And maybe, just maybe, the kids are starting to find that Northwestern is the place to be too.
